So we felt that our students had been working really hard the last few weeks in English class that we wanted to give them a different kind of class. And since we more or less live on the beach we went there to learn this sunny afternoon. We brought some Dr. Seuss books, fruits and a lot of energy!
Monday- Friday the students receive English classes 2 hours during the afternoon, this is after they have gone to “normal” school like they call it. Because our English school is not a “normal” school. It is a container transformed to a library/classroom/school!
Our class at the beach was a success! How could it not be? It´s important to get out of the classroom sometimes and make the students feel that they are not only studying and studying. It can be hard not only for kids but also for adults to keep the spirit up when studying. You know that you are doing it for new experiences, your future, a different kind of job, or to get in to a special kind of job market who knows there are a million reasons to learn a new language…but the reason can sometimes disappear during the process and just become a routine. Therefore it is important to sometimes do something out of the classroom that helps keeping the spirit up and the motivation to learn more.
And they did learn a lot of new words at the beach even though they didn’t think about it!
Stay tuned for more updates from our English school project.
