Surfing is a stone’s throw from our hammocks at Monty’s Beach Lodge! The gently sloping sandy beach with little undertow is perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers all year long.

Deep Sea Fishing
Cast out your line for a fishing experience you’ll never forget. Alongside your guide, you could reel in barracuda, Spanish mackerel, red snapper, mahi mahi, rooster fish, or tuna. Keep what you catch and have it cooked for lunch at the Lodge! Or take it to a local community to help feed families.
$300 per half-day trip – cost divided among guests, maximum 5 persons per trip (all gear is provided)
Kayak Padre Ramos Wildlife Reserve
Grab a paddle, join a guide and explore this unspoiled mangrove estuary that’s full of fish and migrating birds. The tour is usually between 2-3 hours, but can be extended. Paddling on the calm, flat water, it is easy and safe for all levels of kayakers,

Close to Monty’s Beach Lodge is the “Padre Ramos Estuary,” an incredible area to explore by paddle boarding. One of the largest mangrove reserves in all of Central America, it’s also a wildlife sanctuary where Monty’s conservation projects protect turtles, fish, clams, birds and other wildlife.

Volcano Hike and Sand Boarding
Enjoy a full-day trip to the city of Leon where we tour around the local plaza, have lunch and head to Cerro Negro volcano for a hike and fabulous view from the top. Then, you can either surf down the volcano on a board, or hike down at your leisure – either way, it’s an amazing experience.

CONSIGUINA VOLCANO HIKE
Lace up your hiking boots and enjoy a full-day hike up the famous volcano with a knowledgeable guide. The terrain is challenging and steep, and the trek can take between a half-day and full-day depending on the group, so this is best suited for travellers with a high fitness level.

Experience the nine kilometres of beach, estuary and nearby trails on horseback! Saddle up and take in the pristine coastline with a guide that can take you for a half-day or full-day ride.

This unguided ride is a great way to explore the shoreline and see a typical day in Nicaraguan life. Visit local villages, stop for a drink or snack, chat with friendly locals. Watch the local fishermen launch their boats. But watch out for the lizards on the ground!

If you’re an experienced surfer wanting to catch the big waves, hop in our boat and we can shuttle you to intermediate to advanced waves. Some of Nicaragua’s best waves are just a 15-minute ride (2 kms) from of our docks. You perfect wave is waiting for you!

Your guide, Gerry, was born and raised in this bustling town, so who better to take you for a guided tour of a traditional Nicaraguan market. Join locals in purchasing food, arts/crafts and clothing. It’s a fascinating snapshot of authentic Nicaraguan life.
